There you will see up close the ruins of the temple surrounded by green cypress trees. In that area, the father of medicine, Hippocrates, once taught. The temple dates from the 4th century BC. and was discovered in 1902 AD. In Antimachia you will see ruins of the Venetian castle, while in Pyli there is another medieval castle and some churches. Of course, the most imposing is the Castle of the Knights in the port of Kos. Between the castle and the ancient city, there is the Platanos of Hippocrates.

For a swim in the sea, you can go with a rental car to Paradise Beach, which is sandy and organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. You can also go to the beach of Agios Stefanos located 38 km west of the city of Kos. Also in Kos, in the port area, there are several bars where you can have fun until the morning. For lunch, we suggest going to Akti Kountourioti at the port.

Try your favorite dishes from the local cuisine of Kos, such as “pitaridia”. They are lasagna that are boiled in meat broth. There are several and interesting local cooking recipes made by the locals. Also very tasty are the “katimeria”, which are twisted fried cheese pies filled with mizithra cheese and topped with honey and cinnamon. Local products in Kos are the sweet tomatoes, a variety of small long and narrow tomatoes, especially sweet. The cheese of “Posas” is also remarkable, that is, goat cheese that is kept in red wine, resulting in a special taste.

From Kos, you can easily visit Rhodes. There are ships that you can carry your car or even speedboats that make the route shorter.
